Palace Park

The park that surrounds the Royal Palace was built during the 1840’s. It is characterised by its many majestic trees, well-kept lawns and beautiful ponds. Despite its royal affiliations, the park is a popular recreational area, and it even served as a base for Oslo’s hippies in the mid-1960’s.

In the southern part of the Palace Park we find the Queen’s Park. It was created in 1751 as a private rococo garden, but has since 1840 been part of the Palace Park. The Queen’s Park is open from 18 May to 1 October every year.
